CWDGA member clubs must use the CDGA Handicap Information System to assure uniformity of handicaps. The CWDGA provides its member clubs with current copies of The USGA Handicap System manual and The USGA Handicap System Reference Guide. Member clubs should thoroughly review and comply with all aspects of the USGA Handicap System.
Sections 4, 5 and 6 of The USGA Handicap System manual explain the procedures for adjusting and posting scores and keeping records. Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) is mandatory for all golf clubs issuing Handicap Indexes.
|Course Handicap||ESC Maximum|
|9 or less||Double Bogey|
|40 and above||10|
Every player is responsible for returning all acceptable scores, as defined in Section 5 of The USGA Handicap System manual, made at her home course or away. Scores made at any golf course in this district during the inactive season may not be accepted for handicap purposes, but scores made at a golf course in an area observing an active season must be posted for handicap purposes, even if they are made during the inactive season in this district. See The USGA Handicap System manual, Section 6-2. The active season for the CWDGA is April 1 through October 31.
Scores made during the four CWDGA tournaments: Annual Championship; One-Day Stroke Play; Better-Ball of Pairs and Senior Better-Ball of Pairs - are tournament scores as defined in Section 5-2e of The USGA Handicap System manual and will be posted by the CWDGA Handicap Chair for handicap purposes. Scores posted for regular play dates at member clubs should not be designated as tournament scores.
Commencing in 2016, the USGA has made changes in the Handicap System. One of the changes is: “Scores made while playing alone will no longer be acceptable for handicap purposes.” (Sec. 5-1: Acceptability of Scores).
Season officially begins on April 1.
(This is the first day for accepting local scores.)
Season officially ends October 31.
(This is the final day for accepting local scores.)
The dates for handicap revisions will be the 1st and the 15th of each month.
